Hair Care & Treatment

Our hair plays an important role in structuring the overall look of our face. Ranging from diverse hairstyles to the in vogue hair colors, individuals spend loads of money on their hair to acquire that modish look and healthy lustrous hair. In theory hair is made up of dead tissues and cells and even then this mass of dead cell requires its due care and treatment and is worth spending on.

Composed mainly of protein, hair indeed deserves good nourishment both from the inside and outside. The following are a few hair care tips to help keep your hair shiny, healthy and beautiful.

Wrap wet hair gently in a cotton towel and leave for a few minutes to dry. Never rub your hair when it’s wet, that is when it is most susceptible to damage.

If you have gray hair then shampooing it daily with a blue colored shampoo is recommended. Gray hair, owing to its lighter color is more likely to get dirtier and duller than dark hair and hence needs to be washed daily. Blue-color shampoos help hide any pale yellowish or subdued tinges in hair, usually caused as a result of aging.

Tired of brittle hair and flying tresses? Rub a few drops of hand lotion onto the palm of your hand and gently smooth it though your hair. This will instantly condition it, giving it a softer, smoother and tidier look.

If your hair tends to flatten down soon after shampooing then try shampooing only the roots. Doze a small amount of conditioner, about the size of a small coin onto your hand and apply only at the ends and then rinse thoroughly. This will give your hair the healthy bounce you so much desire.

Sleeping in hair accessories damages the hair to a great degree. Hence before sleeping, let your hair loose to prevent any unwanted hair breakage or damage.

A simple home-made mask for your hair can be made without difficulty by mixing two teaspoons of castor oil with one teaspoon glycerin and one egg white. Massage this mix well into wet hair wash after a few minutes. This will give your hair a healthy shine and a soft conditioned look.

Another homemade mix, especially formulated for damaged hair, consists of mixing one teaspoon apple cider vinegar with two tablespoons of olive oil and three egg whites. Apply this mixture onto your hair and then envelop it in a plastic wrap. After half an hour, shampoo and rinse well and enjoy your hair return to life!

When buying hair-styling products, check the labels and prefer ones that are water soluble as products that boast too many synthetic constituents tend to clog the follicles.

If you are suffering from hair loss then it is time to consult a professional. Fast thinning hair and reducing hairlines should be shown to a dermatologist as soon as possible. For women, an endocrinologist will also be able to help by diagnosing any hormonal problems or issues.
